Researchers at the Space Syntax Laboratory (www.spacesyntax.org), Space Syntax Limited (www.spacesyntax.com) and UCL’s Virtual Reality Centre (www.vr.ucl.ac.uk) continue to pioneer new generations of computer software for the configurational analysis of space at all scales of the built environment.
All software is available for academic use only, but provided free of charge. Interested researchers must register and submit evidence of academic affiliation. The verification process may take up to 3 weeks depending on the accuracy of the details provided.
There are currently three software packages available:
|
Confeego Included in the current release are tools for computing integration and point depth on a variety of ‘spatial objects’, such as axial lines or convex space regions.Integration can also be calculated for the junctions where such spatial objects intersect. There is also a tool for doing statistical exploration of geographic data in conjunction with the statistical package JMP. The package is a plug-in for the MapInfo GIS platform (version 6.5 or later) running on Windows PC systems. |

UCL Depthmap Depthmap is a standalone application that runs on Windows 2000 and XP, but also functions on 95/98/NT. |

Macintosh Bundle The Classic Bundle hasn't been developed since 1998 and as such only runs on Mac OS Classic environment and Mac OS 9 or earlier. It is not compatible with the new Intel Mac machines. |
